In accordance with the Building Charter for the New Student Recreation Center (Appendix A) the primary purpose of the Fitness & Wellness Center is to serve students enrolled at EKU (whose membership is included in their student fees).

The primary goal is to keep the Fitness & Wellness Center open and available for the entire university community. In order to support our mission of serving the EKU student community, we have established a facility reservation policy for the various activity spaces within the Fitness & Wellness Center and satellite facilities. Community events not affiliated with the University or a University Organization need to contact the office of Continuing Education at (859) 622-2001.

If the event requires recreation staffing there will be an additional fee of $10 per hour. For information on reserving a particular facility please contact the Facility Coordinator, Mark Howard, at (859) 622-1244 or mark.howard@eku.edu. The department prefers all reservations to be made at least two weeks in advance.

Areas available for reservation are:

Weaver Gymnasium:

The Weaver Gym will not be available for reservations Monday - Thursday evenings during the following months: November, December, January, February, and March. The time frames mentioned above are our “high use” hours and reserving the facility would result in depriving the general student body from valuable recreational opportunities.

Begley Gym

Student Organizations and the Model Lab School can reserve the Begley Gyms on a “first come, first served” basis. Model Athletic Teams will be allowed to reserve the Weaver Gym only during hours when the Burke Wellness Center is closed.

Outdoor Basketball Courts

Student Organizations, the Department of Athletics, and the Model Lab School can reserve the outdoor courts on a “first come, first served” basis.

Intramural Fields

Student Organizations, the Department of Athletics, and the Model Lab School can reserve the intramural fields on a “first come, first served” basis.

Fitness & Wellness Center

Student Organizations can reserve the Fitness & Wellness Center only during non-operating hours. Campus Recreation will provide two staff members at the event to ensure that the group is safe and provided the necessary equipment/services during their event. The confirmation of the reservation will depend on the availability of Campus Recreation staff to work their event. The cost of the Campus Recreation staff is $10.00 per hour, per student worker.
