We
are always looking to recruit individuals to teach group fitness
classes & work as personal trainers in the Fitness & Wellness
Center. During the regular semester classes are offered 6 days
a week with a great deal of classes offered during the afternoon
& evening hours. Personal trainers are able to have a flexible
schedule & client work load depending on their needs. Students
qualifying for the federal work study program are preferred, however,
institutional and alternate work study is available. If you are
interested please contact the Campus Recreation Office at 622-1244
or stop by 105 Student Recreation Center. There are two areas
available for employment & an internship opportunity is available
within the Campus Recreation Fitness Program, they include :

Group
Fitness Instructor - The Group Fitness Instructor will
teach a variety of group fitness classes that emphasis cardiovascular,
muscular conditioning& flexibility exercises, as well as safety,
exercise modifications, intensity levels & participant encouragement.
Instructors will be assigned to work a set schedule of classes
for the duration of the semester or the length of the schedule.
The Instructor will oversee, and supervise all activities that
take place directly prior to, during & after the class they
teach. The instructor will also be responsible for printing their
class roster in a timely manner, completing all necessary paperwork
& documentation for each class, following all policies &
procedures of the Fitness Department & attending all meetings
& trainings. Certification as a Group Fitness Instructor is
encouraged; CPR certification is required. Students looking for
experience or thinking about a career in Fitness/Wellness or Recreation

Personal
Trainer - Personal Trainers are responsible for administering
full fitness assessments, developing safe & effective personal
work-out programs & modifying personal work-out programs for
clients. Personal Trainers are also responsible for completing
all necessary paperwork & documentation required for each
client, following all policies & procedures of the Fitness
Department & attending meetings & trainings. Personal
Trainers must be certified and maintain a personal trainer certification
as well as CPR certification. |

Fitness
Program Internship - Students in the Sports Management,
Fitness & Wellness, and Recreation academic programs seeking
an internship for academic credit are encouraged to contact the
Assistant Director of Fitness. The internship will include all
of the administrative aspects of Campus Recreation Fitness Management
including but not limited to recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling,
event management, procurement of equipment, equipment maintenance,
payroll, teaching group fitness classes &/or personal training,
fitness & wellness programming development & implementation
and facility supervision.
