Giving to Campus Recreation

Why Campus Recreation?

The most important aspect of Campus Recreation’s mission is to develop students through experiential education opportunities. A significant part of this development is with our student employees. We accomplish many of our development goals by helping our student employees attend conferences, obtain certifications, and other professional development experiences. The generous funding we receive goes directly to students and student initiatives. Here are several examples of what our student recipients said about your donations.

“I was able to take the Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) examination, which will put me miles ahead as a public health major. The CHES exam is one that will allow me to excel in Health Education and show my capabilities to future employers. By having my examination fees funded through the Professional Development fund, I will be able to go confidently into the professional life knowing I have the support of those at Campus Recreation to follow my dreams.” – Meagan Hurst ’14

“The Professional Development Fund allowed me to explore and realize my passion for teaching Buti yoga. It has been life-changing and the fund is ultimately what permitted me to share the Buti yoga lifestyle with others!” – Bethany Gabbard ’13

I was able to renew my Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification for FREE using my Professional Development fund through Campus Recreation. This certification allows me to continue being a Head Trip Leader with Adventure Programs, which in turn allows me to gain more experience as a leader in the outdoors. After graduating from the School Counseling Program at EKU, I would like to work in Wilderness Therapy. Being a Wilderness First Responder, combined with my experience working with Adventure Programs, will help me to reach this goal. 🙂 – Sarah Parr ’15

These are just a few of the positive comments and experiences your contributions have allowed. So far in the 2013-2014 academic year we have had 12 student employees take advantage of your generosity to fund over $4,000 of student learning opportunities.
