| Relaxation Massage
|
|
|
| |
|
| Relaxation
massage consists of long, gliding strokes, light pressure, and gentle
kneading of the superficial tissue. The main
purpose is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins
from the muscles. Relaxation massage shortens recovery time from muscular
strain by flushing the tissues of lactic acid, uric acid, and other metabolic
wastes. It increases circulation without increasing heart load. It stretches
the ligaments and tendons keeping them supple and pliable. It also stimulates
the skin and nervous system and soothes the nerves themselves at the same
time. It reduces stress, both emotional and physical, and is suggested
in a regular program for stress management.

|
| Therapeutic massage is a general
term for medical or therapeutic treatment by massage. It is considered
a holistic therapy as it reduces the heart rate helping to relax all the
muscles of the body. It also helps lower blood pressure, improves blood
circulation, improves the lymphatic system, and increases the release
of the body’s natural painkillers (such as endorphins)

|
| Cranio-Sacral Therapy, or CST,
is a gentle, hands-on manipulation of a physiological body system called
the cranio-sacral system. This system is comprised of the soft tissue
and bones of the cranium (or head), the spine and the pelvis. Massage
therapists that perform cranio-sacral therapy also target the membranes
and cerebrospinal fluids that surround and cushion the brain and spinal
cord from injury during a therapy session.
